The Canadian province of Québec impresses not only with its breathtaking nature and its famous export product, maple syrup, but also with its French-speaking literary scene. Three poets from Québec, Valérie Forgues, Mireille Gagné and Vincent Lambert, read and perform their poems together with translator Rike Bolte, accompanied by music from Cymin Samawatie and Milian Vogel. Valérie Forgues, born in 1978, most recently published
"Un choix d'amour" (Triptyque 2023, "A decision out of love"), a memoir about non-maternity.
motherhood. Mireille Gagné, born in 1982, published her volume "Bois de Fer" (La Peuplade 2022, "Ironwood"). Here, the lyrical self is half tree, half woman, infested with parasites: "At the acupuncturist, I drive out the / aphids. Nothing helps." In the poetry collection by Vincent Lambert, born in 1980, "La troisième à partir du soleil" (Le Quartanier 2023, "Third behind the sun"), the earth circles in third place behind the sun, the protection of which is at stake: "I vote for a dark hour worldwide / to look at the Orion arm".
The event is produced by Rhizome in collaboration with the Haus für Poesie Berlin, supported by the Institut français, sponsored by the Québec Government Office in
Berlin and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec
