Lectures and panel discussion

What can be done against the (re)strengthening of ethnic gender ideologies? The conference begins with an impulse on the developments and consequences of the völkisch racial and gender ideologies that emerged in the 19th century. For the alleged "superiority" of the "Aryan race", men were supposed to prove their military virtues, while women had to give birth to "racially valuable" children.

Three further impulses deal with various aspects of nationalist gender ideologies: especially during the Nazi era, intersexuality, transsexuality and generally gender-nonconforming lifestyles as well as abortions and homosexuality were combated as threats to the desired "national community".

The concluding panel discussion is dedicated to current questions: How do right-wing populist, neo-Nazi and neo-fascist groups link racism, misogyny and queerophobia today? What has changed in nationalist gender ideologies?
How can we effectively counter the discrimination, defamation and threats associated with these ideologies?
