OH, A VISITOR! is a play by the Hamburg-based group Antje Pfundtner in Gesellschaft, which premiered in Hamburg in May 2024.
This piece is a trio that grows anew with each performance. Because OH, A VISITOR! is always an invitation to other artists to share the stage with Antje Pfundtner in Gesellschaft before and during the performance, to merge stage scenes that have disappeared, to make the invisible visible, to defy disappearance and to pursue a logic together:
If I receive guests and offer them cake, there will be less left for me in the end. If I share ideas with the guests, I end up with more.
OH, A VISITOR! invites many people onto the stage and plays with utopias of justice and distribution. It warns against false promises, prefers to rely on the strength of fragile systems and builds on the people who try to support them.
For the performances at RAMPE, Antje Pfundtner invites six other artists in company to join the play, as well as a group who will open the evening with an excerpt from their work. Together they will put scenes together and add further ingredients to the trio:
"Because, in times when resources are scarce, a promise is needed, otherwise people will end up eating themselves." Antje Pfundtner
Seven years ago, Antje Pfundtner began organizing artistic sharing formats in addition to her stage plays. Around the questions: "How do you share ideas? How do you share money? How do you share the stage?", her discourse formats and plays have been exploring the use of resources ever since. OH, A VISITOR! is the second piece by Antje Pfundtner in Gesellschaft that translates the division of visibility and stage directly into a performance practice.
