Olivia Trummer Quartett / Triosence

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

On the occasion of her recording anniversary, Olivia Trummer presents a carefully compiled selection of her best original compositions with a brand new, unusual ensemble.

Olivia Trummer is an early riser: she started playing the piano at the age of three and was composing even before she could read music. In 2006, she released her critically acclaimed debut album "Nach Norden" - the starting signal for the career of a constantly evolving artist who is now regarded as one of the most interesting jazz musicians of her generation. Her discography now includes eleven of her own albums, and she has performed at Carnegie Hall, the London Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Blue Note Tokyo and shared the stage with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Eric Clapton and Bobby McFerrin. The press celebrates her not only as a "highly virtuosic pianist" and excellent singer who "pushes vocal jazz into the realm of art song with bold scat coloratura", but also as an impressive composer and songwriter. The British Jazzwise Magazine attests to her gift for "writing strong, instantly memorable melodies", and the FAZ notes: "Her compositions cut a fine figure among the jazz standards of the Great American Songbook."

On the occasion of her record anniversary, Olivia Trummer is now exclusively opening her own SONGBOOK and leafing through it like a diary. Together with three exciting musical personalities from the European jazz scene, she brings her most original, catchy, intimate and challenging compositions back to the stage. A carefully compiled selection of her personal favorites, all of which have a story to tell.
She has put together a top-class quartet for the Theaterhaus Jazztage. Two of her long-time companions, Johannes Lauer, now professor of jazz trombone in Leipzig, and Bodek Janke, one of the busiest drummers and percussionists on the European jazz scene, enrich the project, as does Makar Novikov, one of the most important Russian jazz double bassists, who decided to emigrate to Italy in 2022. Together, the ensemble creates a rousing stream of jazz, soul, singer-songwriter and blues. "Timeless music" that gets under your skin.
