Operettenglanz und Liedkunst
- Location:
- Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle, Berliner Platz 1-3, 70174 Stuttgart
Two worlds, one concert: English song art meets German operetta glamour - a program that combines contrasts and sparkles and surprises in a new light.
The concert evening begins with Ralph Vaughan Williams' impressive song cycle Songs of Travel in a specially created version for soloist, choir and piano. This special arrangement will be premiered as part of the Stuttgart Choral Festival. The solo part will be sung by baritone Johannes Held, who will lend expression and depth to the poetic wandering songs. Olga Wien accompanies him on the piano and creates the finely nuanced piano part of this work.
In the second part of the evening, the musical world changes: Paul Lincke's operetta Frau Luna transports the audience to a dazzling scene full of Berlin charm, humor and joie de vivre. Lively, lively and full of well-known melodies, the work is presented in a special version, which is also celebrating its premiere in this form. Birgit Quellmelz takes part as narrator and lends the operetta additional contour, humor and theatrical presence.
