Peter Lehel & Thomas Siffling Quintett feat. Daniel Prandl, Mini Schulz, Oliver Strauch

The Music of Dusko Goykovich - this tribute concert by the two wind players Peter Lehel and Thomas Siffling with the formidable rhythm section Daniel Prandl, Mini Schulz and Oliver Strauch pays tribute to the wonderful music of the legendary trumpeter Dusko Goykovich.

In his decades-long career, Dusko Goykovich has played with almost all the greats of jazz and is undisputedly one of the most important musicians in jazz. Peter Lehel met Dusko Goykovich a few years ago at concerts with the Wüste Welle Bigband Tübingen. Both were engaged as soloists and immediately harmonized wonderfully. This was followed by several tours as a quintet, with the trumpet and tenor saxophone in the frontline, a line-up particularly appreciated by Dukso Goykovich.

For the concert at Bix, Peter Lehel has invited a line-up in which each of the musicians is undisputedly one of the leading protagonists of his instrument in Germany. Almost everyone involved has shared the stage with Dusko Goykovich at some point. Peter Lehel has chosen the Karlsruhe-born trumpeter Thomas Siffling for Dusko's part, whose lyrical and supple tone revives the spirit of Dusko.

In 1998, Dusko Goykovich was awarded the Schwabing Art Prize, in 2014 an ECHO Jazz award honored his life's work and in 2015 he was awarded the Munich Music Prize. "He is regarded as a master of all levels, who, for all his virtuosity and musical competence, has never been interested in being celebrated as the world star he actually is. ..." was the jury's statement at the time.
