Urban Philosophy Instead of an Ivory Tower: With “philosüd,” the Hegel-Haus Museum is bringing Southern Germany’s first philosophy festival to Stuttgart

Was Hegel a revolutionary or a political philosopher—and why does that still matter today? Is love a romantic promise or a civic duty? Does AI liberate us or control us? And who in our society has the power to hate? From September 18–21, 2026, the Hegel-Haus Museum will host the inaugural “philosüd—The Festival for Urban Philosophy,” the first and only philosophy festival in southern Germany. For four days, the birthplace of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel will become a place for debate, inquiry, and encounter. Participants will include Şeyda Kurt, Dorothea Winter, Emanuel Kapfinger, Rime Abd Al Majeed, and Daniel Martin Feige, among others.
