Especially in these times, when right-wing populists are calling democracy and freedom of opinion into question, journalists have a special responsibility. Exaggerating topics, getting to the heart of the matter and reporting critically on government action is the DNA of journalism and an elementary component of freedom of the press. But media professionals also have a responsibility not to exacerbate the polarization of society. Not every coalition dispute needs to be blown up into "chaos" and "the end of the government", not every conflict as a symbol that the democratic actors are incapable of acting.
Where exactly is the line between justified conciseness and criticism and scandalization? How can reporting be factual, differentiated and well-founded, especially in times of online journalism, social media and AI? Is well-researched quality journalism perhaps the answer to the media crisis instead of just going for quick clicks and reach? And where there is no longer any quality journalism on the ground, is democracy in danger of losing acceptance and suffering damage?
We want to discuss this with media professionals and experts.

Free admission tickets are available at the theater and event box offices as well as via the ticket office on 0711 20 20 90 (shipping for a service fee of € 1.50).
