Rachmaninow & Scheherazade – Ein Rausch der Sinne
- Location:
- Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle, Berliner Platz 1-3, 70174 Stuttgart
The Klassische Philharmonie Bonn ends the season with a veritable frenzy of sound. The program includes two works by Russian composers: Sergei Rachmaninov wrote his second piano concerto between 1900 and 1901 after a serious creative crisis. He celebrated great success with this work and it is still one of the most demanding works of piano literature today. Wang Wie plays the piano part in this extremely virtuoso concerto. Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic poem "Scheherazade" transports the listener to the world of "One Thousand and One Nights", conjuring up onomatopoeic, fairytale-like images in the mind's eye.
