Reborn

"Reborn" is a hybrid performance that blends contemporary puppet and object theater, performance art, concert, and livestream. It takes its starting point in so-called "Reborn dolls"—hyperrealistic replicas of infants that are staged on social media in highly curated, seemingly intimate scenarios.

Reborn explores how everyday actions are aestheticized, made repeatable, and imbued with performative significance through platform logics—and what happens when these logics are translated into the analog stage space.

On stage, precisely recreated social media reenactments encounter archaic, physical-material imagery and installation-based setups. Live electronics, electroacoustic sound generation, and a classically trained voice create a soundscape that straddles the line between concert, ritual, and loss of control. In addition to the stage performance, the show is streamed live in parallel, creating a second, media-based level of perception that exists alongside the action on stage.
