Spectacular jumps, tight turns, and high speeds

The Red Bull Cerro Abajo urban downhill series will make its German debut in Stuttgart on September 5 and 6. At the season finale, the world’s best mountain bike downhill riders will compete for the overall series title on a specially designed urban course.

What is Red Bull Cerro Abajo?

Red Bull Cerro Abajo is one of the world’s best-known urban downhill racing series. After stops in South America, the season will conclude in Germany for the first time. On a course approximately 1.2 kilometers long, stretching from the Teehaus in Weißenburgpark to Wilhelmsplatz, riders will tackle 130 meters of elevation gain, tight turns, stairs, jumps, and numerous artificial obstacles. Speeds of up to 60 km/h and challenging chicanes demand technical skill, courage, and precision from the athletes. Johannes Fischbach, a multiple German MTB champion, will also be at the starting line.

Why is the final taking place in Stuttgart?

With its hillsides, numerous staircases, and historic streets, Stuttgart offers ideal conditions for urban downhill. The natural slope of the city basin combines with specially built obstacles such as drops, road gaps, doubles, and ramps. This creates a particularly varied and challenging course for the final.

What is the course like?

The course begins at the Teehaus in Weißenburgpark and winds its way down through Stuttgart’s characteristic stairways, streets, and parks into the Stuttgart basin. Notable sections include jumps over streets, a passage across the pedestrian bridge at Weißenburgpark, and technical turns in the Heusteigviertel neighborhood. The finish line is on Wilhelmsplatz.
