Akademie Schloss Solitude presents "RESTLESS", an exhibition by the artist Hiba G. Isleem, which shows video installations on the relationship between matter, movement and memory.

Hiba G. Isleem is a Palestinian artist who works with video, animation and installation. Her practice explores the shifting relationship between matter, movement and memory, often transforming everyday materials into active visual presences.

During her one-year residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude 2025/2026, Hiba G. Isleem developed several video installation projects while also researching her family archive. Her work moves between personal narratives and the exploration of materiality, investigating how images, objects and gestures carry traces of time, memory and transformation.

The exhibition RESTLESS brings together a selection of earlier video works that focus on the moment when matter begins to move and act. Machines, electrical fragments, tree roots and repetitive gestures appear not as passive objects, but as entities that gain presence through movement. Through subtle animation and repetition, the works create a space in which the boundary between object and living form becomes unstable - and in which matter reveals its restless, animated potential.

The opening will take place on April 28 at 6 pm in the barn of Akademie Schloss Solitude.
