Photographs by Katalin Fanni Horváth. Opening of the exhibition.
Transdanubia is a multicultural region on the western border of Hungary. Different ethnic groups have lived together here for centuries. Recently, a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly common worldwide can also be observed here: Efforts to preserve and revive ethnic identities and minority cultures - "revival(s)".
Katalin Fanni Horváth's photo series illustrates how the boundaries between local and global cultures are blurred. Her motifs show the coexistence of different ethnic groups in the region as being just as natural as the individual affiliation of the people to the respective group.
Katalin Fanni Horváth received the Capa Grand Prize for Photography in 2022 and lives in Budapest. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
