Riverside Salon

Location:
Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Breitscheidstr. 4, 70174 Stuttgart

Hannah Arendt (1906-1975) is one of the most influential political-philosophical thinkers today.
thinkers. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of her death, the Literaturhaus is highlighting her philosophy of freedom in many ways over the course of a year - including in the format of the "Riverside Salon". With her New York address, it is continuing the tradition of her philosophical salon invitations. The new series starts with a salon in which her last summer is discussed, when Hannah Arendt looked after the works and letters of her teachers Martin Heidegger and Karl Jaspers in the German Literature Archive. The volume "Nothing was lost" reflects this time in the perception of the then librarian Ludwig Greve, which the author Ulrich von Bülow, head of the archive department, will present in the salon in an exchange with the historian of ideas Matthias Bormuth and his publisher Ulrich Keicher. After her departure, Greve wrote a Sapphic ode about Hannah Arendt. The salon will open an exchange with the other guests on this and the philosophical dimension of the visit to Marbach.
