France, 1943: the gifted jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt is at the peak of his success. Night after night, he plays to sold-out halls and delights audiences with his gypsy swing, a music full of joie de vivre and wit that even the German occupying forces cannot resist.

While other Sinti were persecuted throughout Europe, Django's popularity gave him a sense of security - until the National Socialists wanted to send him on tour to Germany. Django refuses. His Parisian lover helps him to go into hiding at the Swiss border with his pregnant wife and mother. Here he meets members of his extended family who are also on the run. He tries to reach Switzerland via Lake Geneva, but the Nazis are hot on his heels.

Director: Etienne Comar, France 2017, 117 mins, German dubbed version
