Roma Day Festival 2026: Gipsy Jazz "Django's Tiger" "Django meets Coltrane"

The Jankeje & Guttenberger Trio uniquely combines the lyrical elegance of gipsy jazz à la Django Reinhardt with the harmonic depth and expressiveness of modern jazz, inspired by John Coltrane. Virtuosity, musical dialogue and cross-style improvisation take center stage.
The concert in honour of the legendary Django Reinhardt promises an unforgettable experience in the fascinating world of gipsy jazz. The best artists of the genre will perform,
Mano Gutenberger, one of the most important German representatives of the Sinti tradition in the field of gipsy jazz. With his stylistic authenticity, technical virtuosity and deep roots in Sinti culture, he represents Reinhardt's musical tradition on a national and international level and continues it in a contemporary form. As a musical ambassador, he contributes significantly to the international cultivation and further development of guitar interpretations in the style of Django Reinhardt.
Jan Jankeje is one of the few European musicians to have been awarded honorary citizenship of New Orleans. During his more than 50-year career, he has released around 80 CDs/records and collaborated with well-known artists such as Larry Coryell, Diz Disley, Pierre "Bireli" Lagrene, Stephane Grappelli, Benny Waters, Charly Antolini, Frantisek Havlicek, Eugen Cicero, Hans Kumpf, Jaco Pastorius, Al Katz, Wedeli Köhler, Al Casey and Oscar Klein. He is the initiator of countless Sinti, Manouche & Roma formations and has always proven that the music of Django Reinhardt represents a world music significance.
Special guest from the Czech Republic - saxophonist Ondřej Štveráček, born in 1977, has been one of the defining personalities of the Czech jazz scene for more than two decades. He was a member of the Gustav Brom Big Band and played with many renowned jazz greats such as Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Liebman, George Mraz and Joe Cohn.
