To mark his 80th birthday, Rudolf Buchbinder is devoting himself entirely to the composer with whom his artistic path is inextricably linked: Ludwig van Beethoven. In a sonata recital of remarkable dramaturgy, he traces Beethoven's creative development - from the young, brightly radiant A major Sonata op. 2/2 to the passionately agitated "Appassionata" op. 57. In between, the sonatas op. 14/1, op. 28 "Pastorale" and op. 90 unfold Beethoven's entire emotional and intellectual range. A concert that not only honors a life's work, but also celebrates pianistic mastery in its purest form.
