Sarah Hanahan & Frederik Villmow Quartet

Oslo-based drummer and composer Frederik Villmow has put together a new first-class band - with New York saxophonist Sarah Hanahan as a special guest.

This new quartet marks an exciting chapter in his artistic career. This time he is accompanied by one of the most sought-after musicians on today's New York jazz scene: Sarah Hanahan. Named DownBeat Magazine's #1 Rising Star on Alto Saxophone in 2025, she has quickly established herself as one of the most sought-after musicians in jazz. Her acclaimed album 'Among Giants' (feat. Jeff "Tain" Watts) received a 5-star rating from DownBeat and was voted one of the Best Albums of the Year.

Hanahan's playing is characterized by her deep commitment to the music, her tremendous energy and exceptional virtuosity. Over the course of her career, she has performed with renowned artists such as Joe Farnsworth, Emmet Cohen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jeff "Tain" Watts and the Grammy award-winning Mingus Big Band. She can be heard regularly in leading New York jazz clubs such as Dizzy's Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Smalls and Birdland and tours extensively throughout the USA - and now also in Europe.

Together Frederik Villmow - with Joan Fort on guitar & Philip Lewin on bass - and special guest Sarah Hanahan present a program with compositions by Sarah Hanahan & Frederik Villmow, complemented by selected pieces by important jazz composers, enriched by Hanahan's masterful playing.
