"We think that fairy tales and play are part of childhood: we short-sighted people! As if we would want to live without fairy tales and play at any age!" (Friedrich Nietzsche)
The magical worlds and creatures from fairy tales have inspired our imagination since childhood. Language opens the door to the wonderful. Music can lead us even deeper into this world thanks to its special power to further intensify inner images, thoughts and feelings. In its exclusive fairy tale production, the SKO has teamed up with the author Ute Kleeberg, who has won awards including the Echo Klassik for her musical fairy tales. Her retelling of "Snow White" carefully brings the story into the present while retaining its magic. In Kleeberg's creations, music resounds "not as a backdrop, but as an element in its own right" (nmz). With sounds by Glasunow, Biber and Stravinsky, music and language enter into a lively connection that can be all the more deeply moving. The magnificent, fairy-tale atmosphere of the Wilhelma Theater does the rest. Open your ears for the most beautiful fairytale cinema in your head!
