Sharon Brauner & Harry Ermer
- Location:
- Renitenztheater, Büchsenstr. 26, 70174 Stuttgart
Sharon Brauner sings songs in Yiddish and by Jewish composers.
From tango to jazz - from then to now.
She is accompanied by her pianist Harry Ermer.
The Berliner has been working as a singer and actress since her childhood. As the child of two Holocaust survivors, she became involved with the fading Yiddish culture and the associated "Yiddishkeit" at an early age. Above all with the music that can also be found in well-known non-Yiddish songs by Jewish composers. Music by those composers and lyricists who had long since assimilated into modernity and helped shape the culture of "their" country. Whether at home or in exile - traces of Jewish souls who were able to express their longing through their art and enrich the world with it can be found everywhere. The entire 20th century would be difficult to imagine without the influence of Jewish creatives. Sharon Brauner and her pianist Harry Ermer draw on the huge musical pool of the 20th century to create an evening from the Polish "Stetl" to Berlin and Vienna, from Moscow to Tel Aviv, from Miami to Hollywood and from Broadway to Buenos Aires.
For years, Sharon Brauner has been walking the paths of bygone eras and vanished worlds in search of longings that are still present. In doing so, she has long since left her own footprints on the bridge of memories into the future.
