Two short film programs explore the film legacy of Lotte Reininger and how these footsteps have since been filled.
Program 1 shows student films: A collection of short films between light and shadow by students from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. Inspired by Lotte Reiniger, the young filmmakers develop their own stories full of lightness, humor and emotion, and show how much creative freedom there is in the art of silhouette film.
Program 2 is a tribute to the fascinating art of silhouette film from its beginnings to today's modern reinterpretations. The works combine the precision craftsmanship of silhouettes with poetic and social sensitivity, including works by the great pioneer Lotte Reiniger herself as well as several generations of animation artists whom she inspired worldwide.
