Silvester 2025: Global Player- Wo mir sind isch vorne

Location:
Wilhelma Theater, Neckartalstr. 9, 70376 Stuttgart

Tragicomedy by Hannes Stöhr

The traditional Swabian textile machinery company "Bogenschütz & Söhne" is caught up in the turbulence of globalization. Insolvency is imminent. Younger son Michael, the fourth-generation managing director, tries to explore all options and negotiates orders with a Chinese company. But senior boss Paul Bogenschütz insists on continuing his post-war reconstruction work and wants to give the private homes of all family members to the bank as security for new company loans.
For father Bogenschütz's 99th birthday, all the family members come together in the entrepreneur's villa. Not only the daughter Marlies, who is successful in Berlin with yoga studios, but also the renegade drop-out son Manfred from Jamaica have arrived. While Marlies fears for her livelihood, Manfred wants to be paid his share of the company immediately. On top of all this, skilled worker Kleinmann comes by and voices the worries and fears of the employees who have already been sent on compulsory leave. Agnieschka, the old patriarch's Polish assistant, tries to calm things down, but nerves are frayed at Bogenschütz. A solution to the tricky situation is not in sight. A delegation from the Chong company has already announced its visit. But even in China, dumplings are a sacred dish.

Hannes Stöhr, the Berlin film director ("Berlin Calling", "One Day in Europe" "Berlin is in Germany") with roots in Hechingen, has adapted his successful feature film "Global Player - wo wir sind isch vorne" for the theater stage and accentuates the material in a new way. The structural change in the textile industry in the Swabian Alb and the challenges faced by medium-sized companies in globalization are the backdrop for a tragicomic family and generational portrait.

The actors are:
Paul Bogenschütz - Bernhard Hurm
Michael Bogenschütz - Gerd Plankenhorn
Marlies Bogenschütz - Linda Schlepps
Manfred Bogenschütz - Stefan Hallmayer
Agnieschka Gutek - Kathrin Kestler
Skilled worker Kleinmann - Berthold Biesinger
