This program also focuses on several couples.

Hector Berlioz' comic opera "Béatrice & Bénédicte" was performed for the first time in Baden in 1862. The two main characters first have to be told by their friends that they are in love.

Around 1778/1779, Mozart worked extensively on a new idea. Back from Mannheim, where he had spent an eventful 176 days ("As I love Mannheim, so Mannheim loves me"), he took up one of the many specialties there: Concertos for several soloists and orchestra. During this time, Mozart created one for flute and harp, one for violin and viola, one for four wind instruments and a concerto for two pianos. The latter was for his sister Maria Anna, known as Nannerl, and himself. She was just as good a pianist as he was, but the female role of her time did not allow for an independent career.

The American Christopher Cerrone (*1984) wrote his short orchestral piece in 2017, inspired by Bertold Brecht's lines from the "Svendborg Poems": "In the dark times / Will there also be singing? / There will also be singing. / Of the dark times."

"Daphnis & Chloe" is a love story by the late antique Greek poet Longos from the end of the 2nd century. The two, abandoned as infants by their respective parents and raised by shepherds, develop feelings of love for each other, their parentage is revealed and they are able to marry. Maurice Ravel composed his music on commission from Sergei Djagilev, the director of the Parisian "Ballets russes". The ballet premiered in 1912. "My intention when I wrote it was to compose a great musical fresco, less concerned with archaism than with fidelity to the Greece of my dreams. The work is built symphonically, according to a very strict tonal plan and using a small number of motifs."
