Organized by the Academy for the Spoken Word, the Spoken Arts Festival celebrates the diversity and richness of artistic forms of expression centered on the spoken word, bringing together music, literature, theater, performance, and dance across genres. The theme of this year’s festival— “Hope Calls for Action”— highlights the social movements we seek to describe in these times of fundamental upheaval, so that we do not succumb to a state of despondency and fatalism, but rather actively counter it.
