STOP BEING POOR: INTERVIEWS

A PROJECT ABOUT HOPE - AND ABOUT WHO CAN AFFORD IT.
"Poverty is not a lack of character, but a lack of money!"
(Rutger Bregman)
What does the world cost? Who can afford to dream? Imagining a future has become a privilege. Those who are preoccupied with their own (economic) survival in everyday life do not make big plans. When everything is determined by the here and now, there is no room for a better tomorrow.
What if hopelessness is not a lack of hope, but a lack of space to imagine alternatives? We claim that the future belongs to those who can imagine it. And we invite you to speculate with us. STOP BEING POOR works with money and uses it as an artistic tool for social change.
For STOP BEING POOR, Studio Julian Hetzel misappropriates cultural funding and passes it on to a person as a basic income. In other words: someone receives 15,000 euros, paid out over a year - and that is art. A project that poses uncomfortable questions about capitalism and blurs the boundaries between theater and reality.
Everyone* can take part! This money is an invitation to leave the world of needs and enter the world of desires. This project will change a life. If you want a chance to win 15,000 euros, you have to take part in a public interview. Apply now!
The public interviews will take place from June 11 to 13 and 16 to 19.
As a rule, it is CEOs and technocrats at the levers of power who decide what the future looks like. STOP BEING POOR turns established power structures upside down. The decision on who receives the money is entrusted to a jury of alternative experts: a group of homeless people from Stuttgart. The jury will decide on a daily winner - a total of seven people will go through to the Grand Finale on June 21, where it will be announced who will win the 15,000 euros.
The public is invited to follow the selection process - live on site and in binge mode over several days. On June 21, "the chosen one" will be chosen to turn life into art for a year. Visit us as a viewer, cheer along with your favorite and follow them to the final.
In times of cultural trench warfare and massive cutbacks, Studio Julian Hetzel and Theater RAMPE are sending a clear signal for self-empowerment with STOP BEING POOR. A gesture that is as absurd as it is radical. STOP BEING POOR is neither a reality show about indigence nor a fundraising campaign. It is an artistic intervention that blurs the boundaries between theater and reality.
