STRUNG OUT | The "undisputed champs of metal-laced punk rock" on Fat Wreck Chords
These veterans of the Californian punk scene were signed to the then still young Fat Wreck Chords label back in 1993 - and their current, now tenth studio album "Dead Rebellion" was also released by this record company. What sets the quartet apart from many of their melodycore colleagues, however, is their skillful fusion of metal-rooted craftsmanship, elaborate guitar solos and melodic structures, which they have mastered to perfection and earned them the title of "undisputed champs of metal-laced punk rock". The well-known "Cali-Sound" is condensed in their sophisticated interplay into a conglomerate of high-speed hardcore projectiles in the style of GOOD RIDDANCE, mid-tempo sing-a-long tracks and SNUFF-like melancholy. The lyrics are also extremely profound, as they combine political approaches with a personal touch.
Guests: THE CORPS | Canadian band where comic book superheroes meet skate punk
This Canadian band sheds light on personal and social problems from the perspective of the DC comic book universe and brings us their view of things from the perspective of superheroes and mega-villains. This approach meets a penchant for 1990s-style skate punk, resulting in fast and tight punk rock melodies and catchy choruses.
