Every year, the Stuttgart by the Sea Summer Festival invites the people of Stuttgart to rediscover the urban space of our city center. Stuttgart as a city on the Mediterranean, with a vast rocky cove that invites you to linger—what would that feel like? What would it sound like? How would we experience the city?

From August 1 to September 14, 2026, we’ll explore this question—with the help of the largest water installation in the festival’s history.
The grand staircase and the forecourt of the StadtPalais will be transformed into a Mediterranean cove, surrounded by rocks and accessible only via the grand staircase.

It’s an invitation to swim, soak up the sun, splash around, and relax “by the sea”—a water basin nearly 38 meters long.
As every year, there’s a diverse program featuring a summer market, workshops, and cultural events. A place for connection and sensory experiences—and an experience that offers a refreshing perspective on urban space.
