Sylvia Faragó's "paper reliefs" consist of paper dyed and made by the artist herself. These picture reliefs, consisting of several layers, are supplemented with interwoven natural materials: feathers, grasses, leaves, pods, flowers, etc. The rough, irregular surface of the scooped and sometimes cast paper resembles the weathering processes in nature on the one hand and, on the other, the succinct, geometric outlines such as circles, triangles and ovals resemble the symbolic inscriptions of ancient symbols, as if from the "collective memory" of mankind.
Wolfgang Knauß describes his works as "Papiers trouvés". The artist collects and archives discarded packaging material, fragments of old newspapers and cardboard boxes that he spontaneously likes: these are the relief-like fragments of our civilized and consumer society. These found objects are already weathered, partially encrusted with earth or interwoven with parts of plants from nature. He subjects them to a process of artistic transformation and brings them back to life in reduced collages, objects and photographs.
