THE MOVEMENT | Smart mod punk with northern soul vibes and working class attitude
Modernism meets Marxism and Lenin roars in on a Lambretta - rarely before have class struggle and revolution sounded as smart and danceable as with this "power three-piece" from Copenhagen, Denmark. Musically influenced by the great idols THE WHO, THE CLASH and THE JAM and politically inspired by Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Marx, singer and guitarist Lukas Scherfey founded the band in 2002 and their debut album "Move!" with its rousing uptempo songs already managed to bridge the gap between the punk rock-rooted hard mod sound of 1979 and explicit criticism of society and the system. Pumping bass lines, dry, crisp drumming and a flair for snappy power pop melodies, combined with northern soul vibes, occasional ska elements and a working class attitude, result in an elegant overall package that manages without any nostalgic vintage habitus.
