The Music Of Genesis

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

Genesis has always been an expression of intellectual seriousness and professionalism. "The Music of Genesis" aims to do justice to this: The compilation of a program from the albums of the years 1976 - 1980 does not happen by chance - an analysis of the titles here shows a continuous musical development, which finds its climax and conclusion with "Duke". Being able to call themselves THE MUSIC OF GENESIS is in keeping with their musical aspirations: the musicians are concerned with faithful reproductions of the originals without sterile imitations: They also play tracks live that have never been performed in this way before: an absolute listening pleasure for every true Genesis fan.

The story of "The Music of Genesis" began some time ago: back in 2007, musicians came together to present the music of Genesis as their final project at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. Even though the recordings of the formation, which called itself "The Farm", went viral back then, the musicians already had other engagements... Many years later, a producer, himself an ardent fan of Genesis, was looking for musicians with whom it might be possible to do justice to the genius of Genesis. He came across the recordings of "The Farm" and was impressed. So he got in touch and brought the musicians together again for the first time in 2019 - and lo and behold, the old chemistry was still there. Musically mature, the friends are now ready to live up to the claim of being "The Music of Genesis" - and with the approval of Tony Smith, manager of Genesis and Phil Collins.

THE BAND

Markus "Elmar" Ferner / Vocals:
First became aware of Genesis with the LP "Invisible Touch". Started playing the keyboard self-taught at the age of 12, formed first band with friends at the age of 19. From 2000 to 2012, keyboardist in the Top 40 band "Finity", mainly on the road in the north. Met the wonderful colleagues for Jochen's graduation concert in 2007 Founded the first German a-ha tribute band in 2011. Since then on tour throughout Germany. From 2012 acting in a local musical project. From 2012 to 2017 production of weekly non-stop mixes for an internet radio station. Permanent member of the Waldbühne Kloster Oesede orchestra since 2017.

Jochen Pietsch / Keyboard:
Jochen started playing the keyboard at the age of eight. As a teenager, he already worked as a church organist and played and arranged in the school big band and musical productions. From 2002-2007, he studied music education jazz/rock/pop at the Hanover University of Music and Drama (now the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media) and graduated with a diploma. As a keyboardist and musical director, he has worked for the Shakespeare musicals "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Tempest" and "As You Like It" by Heinz Rudolph Kunze and Heiner Lürig, at the Theater für Niedersachsen (including Footloose, Avenue Q, Company, Shockheaded Peter) and "Motown - Die Legende" and has written crossover orchestral arrangements for Queensberry, Clowns and Heroes and Ayman, among others. With his gospel ensemble "The Living Gospel Choir", he has worked with Peter Maffay and Marquess, among others, and played for around 90,000 visitors during the Pope's visit to Etzelsbach in 2011. Jochen teaches pop piano at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media and at the Ostkreis Hannover music school.

Niklas Turmann / Guitar:
Since 2008 touring worldwide as guitarist and singer with the band around former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth. In addition, Niklas has released two albums with his progressive rock band Crystal Breed, plays with the Krautrock band Jane and has been on tour with the monks of Gregorian since 2020. 2018 "G3 Tour" alongside Uli Jon Roth, Joe Satriani and John Petrucci.

Michael Schugardt / bass:
At home in both rock and jazz. 2002 pop course and 2003-2008 jazz/rock/pop studies in Hanover. Over the years, he has performed and recorded with over 60 different bands, including Crystal Breed and youdid. 2013 year abroad in London, since 2014 working in a private music studio in Hamburg.

Momme Boe / drums:
Wanted to play in the marching band from the age of 3, but couldn't carry the drum. From 2003 he studied jazz/rock/pop drums together with Niklas, Jochen and Michael in Hanover. As a drummer and percussionist, he has played concerts and toured in over 20 countries, including with David Hasselhoff and Pee Wee Ellis, as well as running his own music school in Husum since 2017, and in 2023 he will also be the drummer in "The Cream of Clapton Band" - nobody plays like Phil Collins like Momme.

Long gone, still legendary!

By the way: As "The Farm", concerts by the former university graduates already made the Genesis fan community "sit up and take notice" in 2007 & 2009 and their YouTube music videos ("Behind the lines" alone with almost 100,000 clicks) were already generating tour requests from all over the world back then...

Now the sworn Genesis fan community should very quickly spread the word that - musically mature - the five are playing again, albeit under a different name.
