"The Pickers" / Film und Gespräch

The Fairtrade Group Botnang and Terre des Hommes present the documentary film "The Pickers" at the Bürgerhaus Botnang in cooperation with the district initiative "Botnang Hand in Hand" and the Stadtteilkino Stuttgart. Followed by a discussion with Werner Schiffer (Terre des Hommes)

As part of the accompanying program "MenschenRechte im Blick" to the exhibition "Mein Name ist Mensch" in the AWO Begegnungsstätte Botnang (until 31 January 2026, Mon-Fri 11am-5pm), the documentary "The Pickers" by Elke Sasse will be shown in the Bürgerhaus Botnang. Afterwards, Werner Schiffer will discuss with the film audience how important it is to demand the implementation of an effective European supply chain law.
Elke Sasse follows the trail of our oranges, olives, strawberries and blueberries to the people who harvest them. In Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany. More than two million migrants are currently working in European fields, many of them without a contract or minimum wage, some without residence papers or with high debts to intermediaries. The harvest workers take center stage, they are given voices and faces, they tell their stories defiantly and bitterly.
