The Theo Altmann Trio takes up one of the classic formats of jazz - the trio - and rethinks it in the spirit of chamber music. In this subtle context, space is created for sonic discoveries, spontaneous interaction and lively improvisation that combines organically with composed elements. With a keen sense of melody, sound and communication, the trio moves through multi-layered soundscapes. They use extended playing techniques and different forms of improvisation to break up familiar structures and open up new musical spaces.
