Todd Thibaud & Band

This is probably the epitome of bittersweet news: first the great joy - Todd Thibaud is finally coming back on tour in Germany with his own rock band. Then the shock - it's to be his last tour of Germany with the band. So today is his farewell concert at the Lab.

It's no coincidence that Todd was one of the first to play Americana concerts at the Lab and that he is still one of our absolute favorite artists of this genre. Not only is he one of the nicest guys you could imagine, but musically he has it all: There's his sensitive, attractive voice, the compelling harmonies, the palatable West Coast brand guitar runs, the spot-on balance between rousing electric rock and acoustic urgency with goosebumps guaranteed, plus the punch of heartland and prairie rock and just the right dash of pop to give the whole thing a certain urban nonchalance and freshness.
Todd has repeatedly conjured up these qualities on the Lab stage over the years in a wide variety of constellations: be it as a duo with Joseph Parsons, with the legendary supergroup Hardpan, with Kim Taylor as Water & Sand, or with his own band. We almost couldn't believe it ourselves, but it's true: the last time Todd Thibaud and his band were guests at the Lab was in May 2013. So this will be his first appearance with the band in thirteen years, and his last in this constellation at the Lab. It couldn't be a more obligatory date.
