"Tous sur la banquise" ("All on the ice floe") is dedicated to the life of emperor penguins and the climate change that threatens their - and ultimately our - existence. Based on the special social behavior of these animals, we question our own society and its structures: With the penguins, we go in search of a humanity that seems to be becoming increasingly rare in our time. They reflect what defines us as human beings - and what we might voluntarily give up.
The piece combines dance, music, language and scenography. It moves in a field of tension between the concrete representation of the animals' lives on the one hand and an abstract interpretation through movement, text and sound on the other. This creates a broad interpretative space in which the question of how the human body meets the challenges of our present day is opened up.
