Twice a year, a funeral service is held at Stuttgart's Prague Cemetery for the "smallest of the small". The city of Stuttgart has set up a communal burial site for these "star children". Unless the parents have opted for an individual burial, children weighing less than 500 grams will be buried there anonymously in an urn. The parents and their relatives are invited to attend. The Stuttgart Women's Clinic, the Marienhospital, the Robert Bosch Hospital, the St. Anna Clinic and the Rems-Murr Clinic are involved.
The funeral service begins at the large staircase in front of the ceremony hall. From there, everyone walks together to the grave where the "smallest of the small" are buried. The entire ceremony takes place outdoors.
The chaplains from the participating hospitals organize the ecumenical ceremony. Of course, those affected who do not belong to a church or other religion are also invited.
The costs for the gravesite and grave care are covered by the Stuttgart municipal cemetery office. However, this means that individual grave design is not possible.
