Glen Tetley would have celebrated his 100th birthday on February 3, 2026. Time for a tribute to the choreographer who breathed new life into the Stuttgart Ballet after John Cranko's death and, as director of the company, introduced the dancers to new qualities of movement. He created his Voluntaries to Francis Poulenc's organ concerto in 1973 and opened up new horizons. Characterized by a mysterious atmosphere, the piece exudes a reflective mood. In Ricercare, the dancers become a breathing sculpture. The bright ramp in the background sometimes offers the couple retreat and security, sometimes it remains as an architectural arch in the background of the body play. In Le Sacre du Printemps, Glen Tetley transfers the power of Igor Stravinsky's once scandalous music to the dance. Full of energy, arms stretch, feet stamp and fists clench. The dancers pay homage to the earth as if possessed.
