The tradition of jazz thrives on ever new, creative interpretations of its standards. Long transmitted directly from player to player as an oral art form, improvisation has always been a central feature of this music.
Recording on sound carriers is inherently contradictory to this, which is why even in the 21st century, sound-technical alterations of jazz recordings always have a strange aftertaste, quite unlike in pop music, where even rigorous remixes of popular hits are appreciated.
This is where Electrio comes in! Bandleader Ull Möck breaks down standards into their ingredients, sifts them thoroughly and mixes them into a completely new substance according to a secret recipe with many of his own ingredients. Together with drummer Michael Kersting and bassist Thomy Jordi, this is improvised back into a solid form live in the studio. The result is a kind of remixed meat, stylistically packaged in the colors of jazz rock as Miles Davis, together with descendants such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Jaco Pastorius, Tony Williams, shaped it in the early 70s.
Line-up: Ull Möck (keys); Tomy Jordi (b); Michael Kersting (drums)
