Unterhausdebatte: Wie politisch soll Wissenschaftsjournalismus sein?

Location:
Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart, Mailänder Platz 1, 70173 Stuttgart
Date
July 1, 2026, 7:00 PM

Talk with Carina Frey, Alexander Mäder and Rainer Kurlemann as part of the Stuttgart Science Festival

Academic freedom is coming under pressure worldwide, and post-factual narratives are becoming increasingly prevalent in socio-political debates. What role can and should science journalists play in these times? Should they demand political statements from the scientific community? How do they deal with the fact that parts of society do not accept the results of research as an independent classification? Germany's largest association of science journalists, the Wissenschaftspressekonferenz e.V., has developed a mission statement in its 40th founding year - and would like to put it up for public debate. In the "House of Commons Debate" format, the audience will take a stand. An evening to discuss the role of science journalism, to listen and exchange arguments.

In cooperation with the International Center for Culture and Technology Research at the University of Stuttgart (IZKT), the SciComm Stuttgart. Science Communication Network and the Science Press Conference e.V.
