Reading and discussion with Daniel Martin Feige in the Generation Postdigital series
Moderation: Olia Lialina | Video games have become an indispensable part of our pop culture in recent years. But what does this mean for their role as art? Where exactly do they find their place alongside established art forms? In this lecture, we will explore the exciting question of whether video games can be regarded as an artistic medium and take a critical look at the traditional understanding of art. It will become clear that the boundaries of the arts are not fixed, but constantly changing - and video games are a fascinating example of this.
Daniel Martin Feige is Professor of Philosophy and Aesthetics at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design. He researches and publishes primarily on topics of philosophical aesthetics and philosophical anthropology. In 2015, he published "Computerspiele. Eine Ästhetik" and published the handbook "Computerspiele. 50 zentrale Titel" together with Rudolf Inderst at Transcript-Verlag.
