Various: Rameau, Debussy, Glass
Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson is joining us for the first time - an artist who has taken the concert world by storm with his subtle playing and clear sound aesthetics. Rameau, Debussy, Glass: at first glance, a highly unusual ménage-à-trois. But at first hearing, it is a love triangle that could hardly be more exciting. Víkingur Ólafsson brings three sound painters into conversation in his recital program. He has an ability that few people possess: Víkingur Ólafsson is a synaesthete. When he hears sounds, he also sees colors. This must be one of the secrets of his incredibly colorful piano playing. And the key to the intimate relationship that Ólafsson uncovers between Jean-Philippe Rameau, Claude Debussy and Philip Glass. As different as their lifetimes may be, they are united by a sense of harmony, color and the dissolution of sounds in space and time. And these three have something else in common: Ólafsson dedicated his first and third CD recordings to them - and stormed to the top of the piano Olympus with them.
