Photographer Alwin Maigler approaches a complex sense of home using Turkish-German migration stories as an example. The photographs from the Başardık series can be seen from July 10 to August 1 at the Kunstverein Wagenhalle project space in an exhibition of the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection.

FULLY PACKED with anticipation, wanderlust, wishes and dreams, but also with worries, disappointments and losses, many of the so-called "guest workers" and their descendants still travel back and forth between two homelands today. Since the recruitment agreements from the mid-1950s, a complex feeling of home has developed in many families over several generations. The exhibition VOLLGEPACKT approaches this topic using the example of Turkish-German migration stories. It is based on a photo series by Alwin Maigler, which was commissioned by the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection and created in cooperation with the Turkish Employee Network - a network of the company's employees. In the summer of 2024, the artist traveled along the so-called "Heimatweg" in a historic Mercedes-Benz and documented impressive encounters with people, places and their stories. The exhibition is accompanied by video interviews and a poetic approach by Merve Kayıkçı.ka
