The life of Hannelore König, née Wolf by Anne Overlack

Straightforward, unsentimental, upright - this is how Hannelore König, née Wolf (1925-2012), can be characterized, who made a career as a lawyer in the civil service of the state of Baden-Württemberg and became a memorable narrator of family history in the last years of her life.

As the daughter of country doctor Nathan Wolf, the "last Jew of Wangen", Hannelore Wolf was born in 1925 in the small village of Wangen on Lake Constance, which had been home to a rural Jewish community for centuries. She told the writer Manfred Bosch about the years of persecution by the Nazi regime that she experienced as a child and as an adolescent, who published her story under the title Hitler was gone and we were there.

However, Hannelore Wolf, who was married to König, did not want to be reduced to the twelve years of Nazi rule and the role of victim. After the end of the war, life really got going ... - and this part of her life, in which she studied law and made a career in Stuttgart in the then still male-dominated judiciary, was extremely important to the brilliant narrator.

She told the second part of her life story to Anne Overlack, who published the entire narrative report, supplemented by document excerpts from the family archive and public archives. In 2016, she published In der Heimat eine Fremde. The life of a German Jewish family in the 20th century. In the year of her 100th birthday, the first female senior public prosecutor in Württemberg returns to her place of work and life in Stuttgart in this illustrated lecture.

With a greeting from the President of the State Parliament, Muhterem Aras.
