Walwerdung
- Location:
- FITZ Das Theater animierter Formen, Eberhardstr. 61, 70173 Stuttgart
"We are a point in time. We were water and we will be water again."
While a new human grows in her belly, a woman transforms into a whale. Performers Iris Keller and Rosanna Zünd immerse the hydrophone in the aquarium and interweave text with live music. The protagonist's thoughts and a huge humpback whale fin unfold in this sound space. Between whale song, the pain of childbirth and the whirring of the breast pump, Walwerdung tells a story of body change, vulnerability and feminist rage with lightness and depth - and asks how parenthood can be thought of today, in a world out of balance.
A musical-theatrical evening about becoming a mother and the longing for the gentle giants of the seas.
Performance, text: Iris Keller | Live music: Rosanna Zünd | Composition: Xenia Wiener | Direction: Ruth Huber | Technical/lighting design: Fabian Argano | Scenography: Oliver "Scuba" Klauser | Costume design: Eva Butzkies
