Wein & Kultur | Georgien, Heimat des Weines
Duration
120 minutes
The Georgian Culture House e.V. cordially invites you to a special cultural evening in the Dürnitz Museum Foyer in the Württemberg State Museum. Georgian wine culture, which looks back on 8,000 years of history, is reflected in the diversity of local grape varieties and the use of qvevris. These fired clay jugs, in which the wine is made and matured, have been used since at least 6000 BC. They are not only important wine-making tools, but also highly symbolic objects that are revered in songs and oral traditions. This method was recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage in 2013.
The evening offers insights into the ancient Georgian winemaking methods and the diversity of Georgian grape varieties. The event builds a bridge between the 8000-year history of Georgian winemaking and the modern wine world by showcasing the unique methods and flavor profiles of Georgian wines.
Experience an evening full of Georgian culture and tradition. You can expect exciting presentations on the history and peculiarities of Qvevri winemaking, accompanied by traditional Georgian polyphonic folk music. During the event, you will have the opportunity to talk to a Georgian winemaker and taste selected Georgian wines.
A cooperation between the Württemberg State Museum, the Georgian Culture House and the Forum of Cultures e.V.
An event as part of the Deine Dürnitz project, which promotes the Dürnitz museum foyer as a place of encounter and exchange.
