Really, we live in dark times...
With the poem "An die Nachgeborenen", Bert Brecht recalls from exile the failure of the resistance against the rise of fascism, names the fascist crimes and addresses his words to future generations.
We take this poem as a guideline for our evening-long program on the anniversary of the fascist transfer of power 90 years ago with songs and texts by Bert Brecht, Hanns Eisler, Klaus Mann, Rose Ausländer, Konstantin Wecker, Theodor Kramer, Esther Bejarano and others as well as our own current songs.
A joint program by ewo2: Bernd Köhler (vocals, guitar), Joachim Romeis (violin) and the actress Bettina Franke (recitation, lyrics).
THE PERFORMERS
Bettina Franke works as a freelance actress at various German theaters. She conceives a variety of literary programs, often in collaboration with musicians. Bettina is committed to fighting racism and the increasingly brutal isolation of Europe. She has worked with Bernd Köhler on many projects, most recently on the Bert Brecht program "Oh! sagte Herr K."
Bernd Köhler (vocals, guitar) became known throughout Germany in the 1970s through performances as a political singer-songwriter under the name "Schlauch" and always supported specific political or trade union campaigns with his art. He continues this tradition with his current programs and the group ewo2.
Joachim Romeis (violin) plays in various jazz and klezmer ensembles alongside engagements as a classical orchestral musician. Since 2015 collaboration with Bernd Köhler in the Mannheim group ewo2.
