Two weeks after the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, KulturRegion Stuttgart invites you to a joint assessment of the current situation as part of its cultural policy discourse format Zukunft:Kultur. Together with two perspectives from theater and opera, we would like to talk about this: Where are political and social shifts currently taking place? What areas of tension are currently shaping the work of cultural institutions? How are large institutions and the independent scene reacting to increasing political pressure? And what ideas are emerging from this for an open, democratic society?

Our guest:

Josephine Bock
Managing Director of Verband Mitte:Ost - an association of the state associations of the independent performing arts in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, which is committed to networking, representation of interests and solidarity structures in the independent scene.

Simone Theilacker-Wolter
Director of Artistic Production and Deputy Artistic Director of the Stuttgart State Opera. She is responsible for the organizational and strategic framework of the internationally renowned opera house - most recently in the context of the public debates and protests surrounding Florentina Holzinger's production of SANCTA.

The evening will be moderated by cultural and creative pilot Jennifer Reaves. As the former managing director of the "blickfang" design fair, content creator and festival organizer ("BitchFest Stuttgart"), she not only brings a perspective from the creative industry and independent cultural production, but also has a clear view of contemporary culture, the public sphere and new narratives.

The evening is expressly intended as an invitation to think and talk - for everyone interested in art, cultural policy and a diverse, democratic public sphere.

Afterwards, we look forward to a relaxed conclusion with a concert by artist Kim Hoss.
