Space days. Literature and participation Meet, Read & Talk, moderated by Anna Mendel

For a long time, there was little room in literature for stories about illness, chronic limitations or life beyond the so-called norm. In recent years, however, numerous books have been published featuring characters who struggle to find their place in society and help shape it due to age, illness or disability. These texts take us into the inner worlds of everyday life in a state of emergency. But not only as a catastrophe. They also show resilience and self-efficacy. What happens when we read these stories together, think aloud and listen to each other? Critical reading means not only understanding texts, but also understanding the world better. Bring your book - we will read, share thoughts and discuss with each other. The evening is based on Lena Gorelik's novel "All My Mothers". Here she talks about the complex, often lifelong relationships that characterize motherhood - about everyday life with a chronically ill child, about the mother's illness, about accepting, letting go or not being able to let go. Anna Mendel moderates the discussion. She advocates body neutrality, equal parenthood and topics such as the autism spectrum and trisomy 21 from a parent's perspective.
