The Kickers - passionate football under the television tower

Founded in 1899, SV Stuttgarter Kickers is a soccer club based in the district of Degerloch. The "Blauen" play in the third-highest division in Germany, where they compete with traditional clubs such as Dynamo Dresden, VfL Osnabrück and MSV Duisburg. The Kickers play their home games at the GAZi Stadium on the Waldau, right next to the television tower. Between 3,000 and 4,000 fans regularly attend SVK matches. The GAZi Stadium, which is characterized by the proximity of the stands to the pitch, is the second-highest stadium in Germany. Sports director Michael Zeyer and head coach Horst Steffen have been at the helm since September 2013. Since then, the club has returned to calmer waters - with a trend towards the 2nd division.

The Stuttgarter Kickers celebrated their greatest successes at the end of the 1980s. In 1987, the Kickers reached the DFB Cup final as a second division team at the time, losing 3-1 to Hamburger SV. In the 1987/88 and 1990/91 seasons, the club played in the 1st Bundesliga. The club's most famous players include former DFB national coach Jürgen Klinsmann, 90s World Cup winner Guido Buchwald, Fredi Bobic, Karl Allgöwer and Walter Kelch. In addition to soccer, the more than 2,000 members also have access to the table tennis, handball, athletics, refereeing and fan departments. The office and fan store are located at "Königsträßle" 56.
