The New Visitor Center at the Weissenhof Estate

The Weissenhof.Forum will open in spring 2027 as a new visitor and information center at the entrance to the world-famous Weissenhofsiedlung. Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the 1927 Werkbund Exhibition, this will serve as a central hub for anyone wishing to discover the history of modernism and the architecture of the future.

The new building will serve as the starting point for a visit to the Weissenhof Estate and will complement the Weissenhof Museum in the Le Corbusier House. Visitors can expect a modern exhibition on the history of the settlement, its international significance, and its role within the context of the International Building Exhibition 2027 (IBA’27). In addition, the Weissenhof.Forum features a shop, dining options, event spaces, and a workshop area for children and families.

Architecturally as well, the building—designed by the Berlin-based architectural firm Barkow Leibinger and constructed by ZECH Hochbau AG Stuttgart—sets new standards. It is being constructed primarily using wood and clay, features green roofs with integrated photovoltaic systems, and aims to meet the plus-energy standard. In this way, the building combines the ideas of modernist architecture with forward-looking solutions for sustainable construction.

Together with the Weissenhof Estate, the Weissenhof Museum, and the neighboring Brenzkirche, the Weissenhof.Forum will serve as the gateway to one of Germany’s most significant architectural sites and make the Weissenhof even more accessible to visitors.
