Municipal Lapidary Stuttgart

This Way

in 1.0 Kilometer Start Route

The Lapidarium is open in the summer season 02.05.2026 - 04.10.2026 from Thursday to Sunday daily from 2 pm to 6 pm. Admission is free.

Are you interested in art and sculptures? Then head to the Municipal Lapidarium. Here you will find historical parks on the one hand and an open-air museum as a kind of stone picture book of the city's history on the other. Within the park you will find a variety of terraces, courtyards and old trees to linger and relax.

The Lapidarium originated in 1905 as the villa garden of Carl von Ostertag-Siegle. He placed his collection of over 200 Roman fragments there, which can still be seen today. In 1950, the city of Stuttgart acquired the park and established the Municipal Lapidarium. Numerous works of art and historically significant components - some of which were excavated by hand from the rubble of Stuttgart, which had been destroyed in the war - were embedded in the villa garden with its walkway, fountain courtyard and terraces. The result is an enchanting park where you can forget about time.
